If your not familiar with Phonte of Little Brother and Nicolay there side project known as Foreign Exchange, “Connected” was the name of there first project. its grown up hip hop, no bling or bullshit. This CD might one of the most slept on CD of 2005 “Connected”is one of those albums you put on repeat all. relax with drink in hand for rest of the night,i really can post all the songs because there all that good ya dig!

DJ’s are people too… We have feelings

So I was reading fellow DJ/ Producer Melo –X ‘s blog. He vented about the wreck us Djs have to put up with (the owners/promoters/the crowd). I deejay 3 nights a week in Staten Island which is so close minded when it comes to music.

Its either hip hop pop or house music there is no in between sometimes. I add the shit I like to play and the crowd is unfazed. We as deejays go thru what Doujah Raze coined Spinmata. That’s when good deejays get caught in the tidal wave of bullshit when working at a bar/club. Its like your in a catch 22 if you play the stuff the dudes like the chicks will complain and leave, then the dudes complain the chicks are leaving. So what NOW… well create a balance. I learned very early in my career you will NEVER make the entire crowd happy.

Granted you still have to play the commercial in the spot it does keep asses at a bar, but ill go off on like a 20 minute what ever the fuck I want to play set. Thank God I live/DJ in Staten Island, when the WU TANG drops all the people in the bar go nuts.

People reading this please have some consideration for us DJ folk. We have enough stress and don’t need more. So please make your request a good one. Dont ask can when are you playing Reggae or hey can you play some Hip hop you know like Brittney Spears….. that really happened true story.

since were on the Blu tip today i might as well give you a few more, these are off “Below the heavens” the whole album is pretty damn good it deserved a more attention than it got. This takes me back to when I first heard 93 till infinity.

Lynyrd Skynyrd

Lynyrd Skynyrd is Southern rock band. that became popular in 1973, the song most recognizable from Skynyrd is “Sweet Home Alabama”. The band named themselves after there High-school gym teacher Leonard Skinnerd, it was a mock name but it caught on. Unfortunately 3 member of Lynyrd Skynyrd died in a plane crash.The plane ran out of fuel and crashed in a forest killing Singer/songwriter Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist/vocalist Steve Gaines, backing vocalist Cassie Gaines. The Drummer crawled out of the plane wreckage with several broken ribs, but was able to walk, hiked some distance from the crash to try and get help. Years later Ronnie Van Zant’s little brother Johnny took over as lead singer. What is so great about Lynyrd Skynyrd was there musical abilities if you ever heard an album the guitar playing was like breathing for these dudes very organic at they time they did something not common they had 3 guitar players and that created layers to there music. Freebird is the perfect example of how amazing a guitar can be if done correctly they sounds great on a record and from the footage i have seen they play amazing live. The clips imm post show there live jam style playing some of Skynyrd’s songs go over the 5 minute mark. You will get hyoed watching the Freebird video, and simple man is just an amazing tune. Enjoy
