Excerpt: King Louis XIV was a king of the people (somewhat). He was a royalty that lived with the servants. Thus, he had an understanding of the commoner’s mentality. Chuuwee, on the same token, is a king amongst the underground/unknown. Also, he will go toe to toe with anyone that contests his beliefs. K.R.I.T. works damn good with a live band backing up the country funk that he brings. I sense another classic coming from his first major full length album. I cannot wait until it drops. It needs to be everything we hoped for. That is all I have to say about that.

Dead End Hip Hop (aka some of the other people I write for) actually wanted to have this conversation. I think it is worthwhile to know the difference between trying something new and trying to make more money. Now that I think about it, MMG (Wale, etc.) has a penchant for doing things to move more units. So, when people say they are selling out, it makes sense.

Hey, the video fits the song. Meanwhile, Swizz’s beat surely melds the recent (his own adlibs) with the old (the keyboardish sounds and bleeps). A$AP Rocky is a mixture of old style with new style. This song works. So does the video. Will be giving this a few more spins.

Many say that they want a full length album from them. Others say that they are a “fake Slaughterhouse”. I can only say that this song is dope as all get out. Plus, its produced by The Large Professor. Thus, whether they drop a full length is irrelevant. Them being a fake supergroup is irrelevant. The relevant is this: the beat is fresh, the lyrics are on point, and people need to be quiet and listen. That includes me at the moment.

I can’t wait for this album to drop. The songs are getting better and better. It better not disappoint as a whole. This song has that “chill factor”. That “lay back and relax and reflect” factor. Yeah. This wins.

Really, though: Jamla is slept on. I don’t know how long that will last. To be honest, Halo is pretty unknown/unsung/unrealized. See him perform live? Full of energy. This song is actually much more mellow than what I am used to from him. The Blind Poet? Find it. Download it. Bump it.

Fresh Daily, the Brooklyn Good Guy, has a video to support his song off of his recent mixtape. I personally love his mixtape. I enjoyed every minute of it. See the video and understand why I like it so much.

The rep is going to get bigger. See the first episode of Chuuwee as he takes interviews, performs a show, and even gets props from C Rayz Walz. Being this cold on the mic is serious business. Sacramento’s finest (outside of C-Bo) has to be some work. Chuuwee makes it look easy. He is coming for a few crowns…even if they have thorns.

Brother Ali is back from his hiatus of making music. First, he dropped that Valentine’s Day EP (that costed Free.99). Then, he has this new video for an album that is produced by Jake One. You know, the west coaster? White Van Music? Yeah, that guy. Peep the visuals and enjoy the rapid fire flow and killer production.

Is Sir Dark Lips singing? Yes, he is. And it actually sounds formidable. The track is nice, too. It gets into the regular subject matter of “giving a woman the attention she deserves” or something like that. I can dig it, sir. I can dig it.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeee’s baaaaaaaaaaack!! Equipped with production ready to rival naysayers and the own production of El-P, Aesop goes in. He leaves no stone unturned. He also leaves very little to weird imaginations. Well, actually he has us imagining what he is truly getting at.

This track was probably released for free because of the obvious sample. However, that sample is flipped so damn well, that the vocal had to stay just to make sense of it all. Damn, OC made a great album. After you peep my review of the album, you can give this a run. It will be worth your time.

Return of the A gets another video treatment to support Tre Luce’s long player. I really liked this song when I first heard it. The old school sample made it all worth it. He got the southern drawl. He got the flow. He got the beats. Now, he just need the notoriety. That’s pretty much it.

People are seriously sleeping on that OC album. He dropped some dope music for the ears. Apollo Brown’s production is lush and can stand on its own. Nothing but greatness in my eyes.
