Smoke DZA Talks To XclusivesZone.net + Previews New Music

Smoke Dza drops some knowledge, wisdom, and understanding on wrestling, being his own boss, and his music. Take heed to some of the things he says. Try to understand how this man’s mind works. One may never know if/when they will get their start. But plenty of good advice can always help.

Adrian Younge’s Vinyl Collection – Crate Diggers

I see where Adrian Younge gets all of his production inspiration from. Listen to him wax poetic about “the three worst things you can do to a person”, the importance of his vinyl store, and the mentality behind digging.

Slept on Singles of the Past 2 Months – R&B

Phil-Beaudreau

So, I basically said:

Justin Timberlake has a new album coming out and everyone is excited. Including me.

But to hell with all of that: there are plenty of artists that have been ignored over the past couple of months. I know a FEW people that are paying attention. However, most are not aware. In fact, most probably don’t care. They are probably too busy doing their own versions of those Harlem Shake videos. It seems to be that a lot of great stuff just isn’t catching the attention of the masses.

Well, I’m here to change all of that. Let me break down my list of songs that deserve your attention (no matter how dated):

DJ Premier x The Akai MPC Renaissance = A Beat

Well, DJ Premier got to play with some toys for the holidays. For one, he got to flip a sample with the Akai MPC Renaissance. After that, he was introduced to the MPC Studio. As he ends it off, he says a statement that should clarify and identify with all hip hop producers: what will they think of next?

Dead Prez x Out Da Box – GMO’s, Let’s Get Free, and other things

Please listen to each and every word they have to say. No, we haven’t overcome a damn thing. We ARE in the midst of attack. People are just waking up to this. Please, you all: let’s get FREE!!!

Sean Price x Conspiracy World Wide Radio – The Interview

I mean, what more can you expect but realness? Listen to Sean Price wax poetic about life, music, fatherhood, Ill Bill, and being “another bum ass artist on the label”. Yeah. I love interviews like this.

Educated Villains Radio with Killer Mike and DJ Trackstar

I’m posting this because Killer Mike and DJ Trackstar are considered family to me. Killer Mike reminds me of my country cousin that I love to be around. DJ Trackstar used to peddle $1 mixtapes through the hoods of St. Louis and look at him now. Two people that I have supported since the beginning of their careers are doing it. Two people that I STILL support to this day are STILL doing it. Nothing but love from other in this corner.

Dead End Hip Hop x Brother Ali – Interview

Okay, so this is the Brother Ali interview they did during the ATL leg of the tour. Man, I’m pissed. I MISSED this show. Regardless, peep out what is needed to be known about the music, Cornel West, and the difference between Ant and Jake One.

2DBZ Presents Dope Dealer Extraordinaire: Kendrick Lamar

Up top my love Miss Pea$ from 2DBZ interviews the man of the year Kendrick Lamar. They discuss his experience working in the studio with West Coast legend, MC Eiht, which CA artists he hopes to unite with, and hints at a possible collaboration with another West Coast legend, DJ Quik. He also makes his case for the importance of purchasing albums.

That world has to actually buy albums. Underground has to buy albums. Underground is so critical but at the same time, these people need to look in the mirrors, people who consider… who like the content and lyrics, need to look in the mirror and say ‘Do I buy albums?’ Underground don’t let it fall. Don’t let it die.” – Kendrick Lamar

Mr. Green and Tent City (Noisey)

So, is this the type of life that awaits some of us? Tent City, as peaceful and profound as it may be, is still sheer poverty. Mr. Green goes to visit with Country, the mayor of Tent City. Pay attention to his short story and see things for yourself.
