Happy Austin 3:16 Day

Today is March 16th, this means nothing but since the date is 3/16, lets create our own hallmark holiday Austin 3:16 Day. Its only fitting that I post the speech where Austin 3:16 started when Stone Cold won the King of the Ring in 1996.

CM Punk Has A Video Message For Chris Brown

The Tweef between Chris Brown and CM Punk escalated from a back and fourth to a full MMA challenge. The Tweef started when Punk tweeted:

Not to be out done by a wrestler Breezy fired back with:

The WWE Champion posted the following response to Brown’s crass remarks which he questioned Punk’s manliness and suggested that the wrestler, uses steroids. Brown deleted said tweet later on.

Brown tweeted several responses to Punks video

Brown ended by tweeting, “Note:today will be the last day I bring @cmpunk existence up! The confrontations that people continuously bring my way are very amusing.” He added, “Cuz honestly, that shit is too time consuming to argue wit every person who has their own issues to deal with!”

As entertaining as this is, its kinda sad. Both have no place taking shots at the other. Both are celebrities who are in two different realms. CM Punk is overly opinionated and Chris Brown is super sensitive. The combination of both personalities are going to clash.

With out this becoming a detailed discussion about Domestic violence I have to agree with Punks comments in the video. One has to wonder if Chris Brown truly feels sorry for what he did? Only he can live with that shame. Its easy for us to cast stones but does a millionaire celebrity who has a massive fan base give two flying fucks about our stones?

According to MTV News Chris Brown is also tweef’n with country singer Miranda Lambert.

I Really LOL’d At This @CMPUNK Tweet

This particular CM Punk tweet me really LOL’n, LMAO in real life. Its just a simple dry remark but I chuckled for 2 minutes. I follow CM Punk on twitter, yes I am a stan, mark whatever you call a fan. Whatever save it Punk is a funny fuck on twitter. If your not following Punk on twitter its really your loss. I find the shit he tweets funny. Sometimes he does come off as an asshole but thats just his personality from that I do know or have read about him. By his responses to his fans alone he is real sarcastic.

WWE To Release A WCW Clash Of The Champions DVD

WWE has plans to release another DVD highlighting the best of World Championship Wrestling. This time its Clash of the Champions. If your under the age of 25 and never heard of Clash of the Champions, it was series of wrestling television specials WCW held from 1988 to 1997. Think free pay-per-view on TV since the cards feature pay-per-view caliber matches.

Allow me to reminisce for a moment and tell you about my first Clash of the Champions experience. The Summer of 95 was lackluster in many areas for your buddy Sparks, but cable TV was a new discovery for me. Classic Sports Network wasn’t bought by ESPN yet, MTV actually played videos…shit even The Real World didn’t suck. The year I got cable was like the biggest deal ever for me. I was twelve and recently recovering from surgery. Since my summer was pretty much fucked my parents bought me cable. Even though I was stuck in a cast for 3 months, I was pretty jazzed that I can now watch Monday Night Raw and WCW.

Prior to getting cable the only time I watched WCW was when I was at my aunts house. Even thought I didn’t know shit about WCW and whatever I did know was from Pro Wrestling Illustrated, I still wanted to see how the other half lived.

My parents thought shelling out a cool $35.00 for pay-per-views was a waste of money. So instead of watching the second ladder match between Shawn Michael and Razor Ramon at SummerSlam that year, I got stuck watching The Renegade vs Paul Orndorff for the WCW World Television Championship. That was my very first Clash of the Champions. Epic fail I know.

That year Clash of the Champions XXXI aired in August on TBS since I dont remember a single detail of any match, we can call my first Clash of the Champions a disappointment. But WCW would make up for that disaster that September when they debuted Monday Nitro, we all know what happened after that.

Since I never watched a Clash of the Champions prior to 95, I asked two OG NWA/WCW fans Joe So Delicious and Bald Steve, what were their favorite Clash of the Champions matches. Both agreed that Arn Anderson/Tully Blanchard vs Barry Windham/Lex Luger for the NWA World Tag Team Championship and Ric Flair vs Sting for NWA World Heavyweight Championship are must watches. Many consider this match with Flair as the match that made Sting a star.

WWE plans to release the Clash of Champions DVD sometime in May with WWE Hall of Fame legend Dusty Rhodes as the host.

CM Punk vs Daniel Bryan On WWE Raw 1/30/12

When CM Punk wrestled Daniel Bryan, 2 weeks ago on WWE Monday Night RAW, I got a shit load of tweets saying FINALLY “pure wrestling”. The idea of “pure wrestling” is more of an opinionated statement. Locks, holds, escapes and an explosive back and fourth with a lengthy time limit give short but matches that have impact a bad rap. I think idea of “pure wrestling” is telling a story in the ring. To quill pure wrestling enthusiast next week I will blog a match that could be the definition of “pure wrestling”.

Its not rare to see a great technical wrestling on RAW. I think most just like to bitch and moan because they aren’t paying attention to Dolph, Cody and Kofi who are ALL technical wrestlers. What was rare was this match between Bryan and Punk. It came out of nowhere, which was cool. Wrestling fans nowadays take the Internet for granted with results and spoilers, so the surprise factor to me was great.

The last time these two faced each other was at ROH back April 2004. Matches like this really highlight how amazing the talent in the WWE really is. Anyone else notice the ROH handshake at the beginning of the match? The code of honor in a WWE ring…AMAZING. After the match I was asked why wasn’t there a clean finish?

Two reasons. The obvious…Being you cannot have one champion superior over the other, it shows weakness. The champion always has to be the “best” of the company. Jericho lost the rumble the night before so doing a run in on Punk during Raw did a great job of setting Punk vs. Jericho.

We all are going to have a markgasim for Punk vs Jericho at WrestleMania, but lets chat for a moment about Bryan vs Sheamus. Bryan and Sheamus will put on a great match. Sheamus and Bryan had some fantastic matches last year on RAW, contrary to all his squash matches Sheamus is very good. He is second most over babyface on SmackDown. If and when Bryan is victorious at Elimination Chamber this month, Bryan will be walking into WrestleMania as champion. Remember last year when Bryan and Sheamus were suppose to be on the card for WrestleMania but got dropped from the broadcast and made into a dark match before the show? What a difference a year makes.

My 2012 Royal Rumble Review 7 Days Later

Its been a FULL WEEK since Royal Rumble. I watched the pay-per-view a solid 5 times. After 5 viewing I was still think WTF, this sucks. How does a pay-per-view which sets the landscape for WrestleMania not be a home run?

Maybe I was just expecting more. You know what stellar work Money in the Back, SummerSlam and Survivor Series where. Royal Rumble should have been more of the same…Instead it was total shit. Some build up in certain areas, but for most of the PPV it had an Inception type sleep.

World Heavyweight Championship Triple Threat Steel Cage Match Daniel Bryan vs Big Show & Mark Henry: First match of the night is the Triple Threat Steel Cage Match for the World Heavyweight Championship. Daniel Bryan tried to escape the cage over the top, but Big Show gets a hold of Bryan, holding the entire weight of Bryan with one arm. Big Show finally looses his grip and D-Bryan drops to the floor to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.

Diamond Dallas Page, Yoga Guru

As I was eating my Wheaties, the thought of hey whats Diamond Dallas Page doing lately. With spoonfuls of the breakfast of champions being chewed I googled DDP. Apparently the former pro wrestler has become a fitness guru.

While pro wrestling is not considered a sport, what pro wrestlers do is athletic and many aches and pains are REAL. What started out as Diamond Dallas Page’s reluctant use of yoga to help him recover from debilitating injuries has evolved into a hybrid yoga developed by Page, that “Ain’t Your Mama’s Yoga!!”. DDPYoga was created while Dallas was recovering from ruptures to his L4/L5 discs.

While watching his wife’s yoga routine the former 3 time WCW World Heavy Weight Champion realized, the benefits of yoga when he regained his flexibility and strength that were hindered by his ruptured disks. DDP developed a book which later turned into a series of workout videos entitled DDPYoga.

DDPYoga targets people who wouldn’t otherwise do yoga. DDPYoga is a combination of intense zero impact workout that combines yoga, rehabilitation moves, dynamic resistance, and breathing technique. DDP says “The workout jacks up your heart rate, helps you lose weight, gain flexibility, get your body back and own your life”

I think why DDPYoga is so successful is Dallas’ personality, he genuinely wants to see people succeed. Working out is a labor of love it takes determination and some sacrifice. Six-time WWE champion, Chris Jericho swears by DDPYoga. Here is a great 15 minute clip of DDP and Y2J doing some DDPYoga, eating gluten free waffles and telling Eddie Guerrero stories.

There are hundreds of testimonials via DDPYoga‘s twitter page here are two that caught my attention.

The Good The Bad The Monday Night RAW Before Royal Rumble 1/23/12

I know its a tab early for the WrestleMania rumors but since the Rumble is this weekend Maina talk will be all the rage for the next several weeks.

Contrary to what has been previously reported, it appears that and are the two big matches currently being discussed. , fans have been expecting the tentative plan and while those plans have not been scrapped by any means, officials have discussed a creative shake-up.

Because of the IWC (Internet Wrestling Community) and its conspiracies and assumptions, rumors are circulating that we might see Triple H vs. CM Punk instead Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk at Mania. While is isn’t confirmed or denied the possible match might be scrapped. WWE is hip to the Internet game and as we know the WWE likes to shake shit up. So Chris Jericho vs The Undertaker might be a go.

If this does happen The Undertaker vs. Chris Jericho wouldn’t be a bad watch. Having Taker do a fresh WrestleMania match is way better than seeing the repeats like the last 3 WrestleMania’s.

Ok lets get in to The Good, The Bad and the Ugly of Monday Night RAW.

THE GOOD:

WWE “King of the Ring Old School” Snapback Cap

I’m really not a hat guy but I own a few snapbacks. Sometimes I get in lazy mode so a snappy serves a purpose. I need to add to my collect of 4 this beauty…The King Of The Ring snapback.

The cap features a Grey crown with Navy bill. The main logo is a retro-style King of the Ring from the early 90s. This is available now at WWESHOP.COM

Fact..The King of the Ring tournament had its first pay-per-view event in 1993, but the original King of the Ring tournament was held in 1985. Don Muraco was the first King of the Ring in 1985.
