Sunday’s SummerSlam, has a great card. One match that holds my attention particularly is Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler. The build was one of the best we’ve seen with Dolph, its been one of the better built programs heading into the third biggest show of the year.
For weeks Ziggler has been saying Jericho is washed up, finished and hasn’t won the big one since his latest return.
Both have been trading insults via social networks and on television. This past week Ziggler’s attacked on jericho on smackdown, ramming a cart into him and using the MITB briefcase as a weapon.
Most of my twitter followers have been asking me is the rub necessary? This is feud is all about elevating Ziggler to main event status. A solidified win over a decorated veteran such as Jericho is a great way to start a championship push for Ziggler. There one down fall we have seen is at times is that The sell gawd can never seem to sustain any kind of momentum.
Ziggs and Jericho are two of the best workers in a company, that is building a steady surplus of talent. I tweeted this match could steal the show. Jericho’s reportedly gone from WWE again as of Tuesday, So I can’t see Ziggs losing this match. The Jericho match at Summerslam is the needed momentum for Ziggs, as he prepares to cash in the briefcase. The smark in me is ready for Ziggler to capture the World Heavyweight Championship sometime before Royal Rumble.
Jericho is becoming Shawn Michaels in the regard of being the veteran that gives validity to any match they are involved in. The difference between HBK and Y2J is, Michaels gets the high profile wins. I think Jericho’s constant departure is one of the reasons some don’t hold him in that regard.
