Straight up: I agree for the most part. Feefo feels that it is one of the best albums of the year. Myke doesn’t feel there are any standout tracks. Hmmmm.
My take on Phonte’s album: Phonte’s album is purely music for grown people with grown people issues. Whether or not it may feel like a “Little Brother minus Rapper Big Pooh” album is up to the viewer. Comfort zones is cool. But I don’t think that Phonte is staying in his comfort zone. He’s making the music that HE wants to make at the time. Its an expression of what he was feeling. “Charity Starts At Home” is a concept album dealing with his home life. So, it is what it is.
This is why I LOVE Dead End Hip Hop: they either agree, disagree, or agree to disagree. Plus, they are cool as hell in person.
Bonus: 9th Wonder…The Wonder Years…..enjoy that, too.
