Hiphopdx.com unleashed an editorial dealing with sales, hip hop albums, and how the quality of music usually occurs within those parameters. There was a lot of truth introduced in this article:
*Out of the 44 albums deemed a classic by The Source, only a few of them were big sellers. Many went platinum (eventually), but for the most part, they didn’t bring in blockbuster numbers
* Album sales have more to do with mass appeal than musical quality.
* A lot of the top selling hip hop albums over the last decade weren’t “classic”. Many were really good. A couple were “eh”.
It is just one of those articles that clear up the air about the meaning behind sales.
