Heres how Macho Man Randy Savage made Wrestlemaina V success

Scums,

Clearly you know EMILIOSPARKSDOTCOM are marks, its ok were the cool kind. When we “blog” about professional wrestling its always a fun read. Today we give you our take as to why Wrestlemaina V was god dang good…. well just the main event.

I was talking with my cuzo Drew Ice Cold about a Savage blog I was going to write. Drew offered to contribute. His outlook on this main event is so good, we feel it is a fitting tribute to one of the best. You will be missed Macho. So sit back and enjoy we got some nice visual to accompany the words.

And it was all done with a stare. On Friday May 20th, we lost an icon in the form of the “Macho Man” Randy Savage. There are so many great moments in Macho’s career I could talk about, but I’m choosing to talk about the moment that to me truly solidifies his super star status.

Wrestlemania V was the most bought Wrestlemania of it’s time, in fact it wasn’t until Wrestlemania 2000, some 11 years later, that that record was broken. And why was it so? ‘Cause for the first time ever they spent an ENTIRE YEAR building to one match, the main event THE MEGA POWERS EXPLODING. The hype began at Wrestlemania IV with the Macho Man walking out of the world title tournament the victor, with an assist from former champion: Hulk Hogan. The win cemented Savage as the No.2 baby face in the company, but it was on that night that the seeds were planted for his turn and his taking the top heel spot.

After the match Hogan, Macho Man and Macho’s “valet/love interest” Miss Elizabeth were filled with joy, and while caught up in the moment Hulkter hoisted Liz up high on his shoulder. And with that the hype had begun, the camera zoomed on to Savage to capture a reaction of sheer disgust, a glare in the direction of Hogan, one filled with rage and jealousy. BUT the moment was more important, so Savage just shrugged it off and celebrated alongside the Hulkster. This would be the first of many subtle hints that were dropped, before FINALLY Savage would snap and lose his cool in a tag team match pitting himself and Hogan against the Twin Towers (Akeem & The Big Boss Man) walking out on his partner after accidently taking out Elizabeth.

Hogan would go on to win the match all by himself, ‘cause back then that’s just what Hulk Hogan would do, but a crazed Savage would then attack and brutal batter the Hulkster back stage while he was being checked on by the medics. This would set the stage for perhaps my favorite Hogan Wrestlemania Match.

A match filled with emotion, that saw the Miss Elizabeth character walk out on Savage, and Savage take the legdrop of his career. Sure it wasn’t a win, but Randy was THE STAR when all was said and done. A simply awesome memory from my childhood, and a match that all wrestling fans should check out if they haven’t already.
