In the beginning of this song Dash Snow is asked a question, “So what keeps you alive?” and Dash’s response is, “4 big bottles of water a day, 2 packs of Marlboro reds and what keeps me alive..shit Music, I have to listen to music all day long, i’d say that keeps me going. I’m a pretty dark person I thought about ending it a million times and I’d have to say that music keeps me here. By far..the main thing. ” His response is one of the realest I’ve ever heard.
This song, is my favorite off Kendrick’s (O)verly (D)edicated. Why? Because you can tell how emotional Kendrick gets while recording it. It’s so personal to him, it gives me chills. While in Chicago at The Shrine, Ruby Hornet comes through with footage of Mr. Lamar’s performance. I can’t stress how talented I think this young man is. You can tell by that video that he’s got a long career ahead of him.
