One Be Lo – L.A.B.O.R. review

I peeped One Be Lo at the A3C festival. After a quick conversation, he told me to stay in one place while he went and got me a CD. He is a man of his word. So I promised to review the album. I am a man of my word.

Excerpt from the review:

One Be Lo is your basic independent hip hop veteran. The one half of Binary Star has been releasing solo music since the early 90’s. Not to be deterred, he is still out here making as much music as possible. One Be Lo may not be a millionaire. However, his name holds weight as a seasoned past master. L.A.B.O.R. Soundtrack is just another exhibit as to why people find his work fascinating.

With a majority of the album produced by D-Will, One Be Lo is allowed to extricate lyrics from his inner sanctum with the assistance of sound beds filled with audible roughage. “Oxy Moron” goes in on how “money changes everything” when it comes to success and progress. “Snake Charmer” explains hip hop and how his life gravitated toward it through the “decepticons” with sound layers of rattlesnake noises. “Sheep’s Clothing” is that tome dedicated to harsh realities and making it in life over somber strings and basslines. In summation, the soundtrack that One Be Lo used for his lyrics matched with much success.
