Mickey Factz – Mickey Mause (review)

Mickey Factz recently released Mickey Mause, a concept mixtape. It deals with the life and times of an artist during the 80′s in NYC. He becomes affiliated with Basquiat, Andy Warhol, and Keith Haring. He does graffiti. He loses friends to drugs and diseases. He loses his composure. He watches it all become lost within the art. This is his journey.

Peep the response:

Mickey Factz is an enigma of an artist. Once featured to be one of the “next” by XXL, he was supposed to blow up. Yet, that didn’t exactly happen. Next to Jay Electronica, he has been sort of elusive. Sure, he dropped music. Yet, it either was spotty or didn’t have the desired effect on the masses. So, for a span of six months, he went into character.

No longer being Mickey Factz, he became Mickey Mause. Mause is supposed to be a reclusive artist that was friends with Warhol, Basquiat, and other art-farts that became pop icons. With estranged beard, spray cans, and wearing yesterday’s best, he went full Denzel Washington. Meaning: he became enveloped by his role. He became Mause.
What came of this? Well, Mickey gave us a mixtape that samples a lot of Deadmaus and Gnarls Barkley. Oddly enough, it works to impressive results.
