The commercial dodge the issue by pointing out that the sneakers “light up,” lights in shoes have been around for what…two decades? Shit I had LA Lights in 1990, technology has grown since 90s.

The new Nike MAGs, a line of Back to the Future Part II-inspired shoes. Fox showed off the kicks, which are almost an exact replica of the ones worn by Marty McFly himself in the 1989 movie. The actor explained that the limited edition shoes (there’s only 1,500 of them) will be auctioned off on Nike’s eBay site and that the proceeds will go to his Parkinson’s research foundation. As Fox put it, the coveted shoes will go to three groups of “people with major joneses”: Sneakerheads, Back to the Future fanatics (who Fox joked are, “Out of their minds… in a good way”), and the Parkinson’s community that want to help advance research. Better yet, Fox revealed that Google co-founder Sergey Brin will match up to $50 million.
