This is a radio single? I think it could work. I’m not sure if the radio is ready for J. Cole, though. The Trey Songz feature is more of a background accent than a vocal performance in my eyes. Meaning: the vocals match up with the beat to not overpower the song by J. Cole. Therefore, there is more focus on J. Cole’s lyrics. Hear for yourself, people.
I’m sure many of us are eagerly anticipating what Roc Nation’s boy wonder has up his sleeve come September 27 when his debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story is set to drop BUT to hold us over we’re given visuals for his latest single “Work Out.” The track is produced by Cole and the video takes me back to a 90s feel, shooting some hoops on the court then taking it to the club. A formula I think many can relate to.
New Elle Varner! and it’s such a sweet and soulful song. What I love about Elle’s voice is that it’s so unique and beautiful yet simple. She doesn’t need bells and whistles to prove her talent, Ms. Varner just needs to sing the ABCs and it’s evident that she’s golden. I’ve played this song on repeat for the past 15 minutes, it’s just that pretty. AND she gets Jermaine on the track? Although I will admit it’s not my favourite verse of this, this joint still goes. Shouts to 2DB for the link!
Good ole Simba is putting out free stuff until the album comes out. I must admit: he knows how to produce and make worthwhile songs. I can tell that these are songs that he wanted to put out there, though. Yet, they are still nice…….really, really nice. Which begs the question: will Cole World be the near classic it needs to be? Friday Night Lights was damn near legendary for his career. Cole World has to be just as good, if not better. Just ask Big Krit, Smoke Dza, and Kendrick Lamar: sophomore slumps are for chumps.
Go ahead and take a listen. You may even download the song. This song WORKS! The straight island rhythms and the dope hook from Trey Songz isn’t overbearing. In fact, it is more infused within the song, making it all work. I can dig it, Simba. I can dig it.
Yyyyyyep. Wale is coming with Ambition sooner than we know it. And what does he do? Hook up with a person he has guaranteed chemistry with: Simba…I mean Jay Z’s heir…… J. Cole. I guess they like peeping out the hot chicks wherever they are at. Has a bouncy, club feel to it. At least J. Cole is expanding his production foray. Impressive.
I’m glad the powers that be started these Cole Summer vlogs, it’s nice to see Jermaine joking around, laughing and being a normal guy. I think it makes him even more relatable to his audience. While in Detroit, Jermaine and company pass by a Krispy Kreme all the while explaining his love for the popular donuts. The cashier in this video was hilarious, “‘Would you cut that camera off?!’ LOL. Cole World: The Sideline Story is due September 27th
Cole World….I’m not announcing any dates until it is practically that time. I swear I don’t like push backs. So, why announce something that is definitely not set in stone?
