The Bullitts x Jay Electronica

SoulCulture TV had a sit down with Jeymes Samuel,  the man behind the The Bullitts,  and Jay Electronica. This is coming after an Energon cube worthy performance at the Big Chill Festival of 2011 (at Eastnor Castle Deer Park in Herefordshire). They chat about working on the EP together, getting with Idris Elba and Lucy Lui on the musical tip, and what the Mos Eisley project means for them. There is even a guest appearance in this interview from Janelle Monae. Funny Jay Electronz is making an EP before he even debuts his own album. Weird and unconventional, to say the least.

Janelle Monae’s Letterman performance

Janelle Monae performed “Tightrope,” the single from her new album The ArchAndroid, on Letterman this week . She’s all the rage right now. For those of you who don’t know her, allow the video to describe her. Watch it. Trust.

I recommend checking out The ArchAndroid. It’s an ambitious little pop record.

Janelle Monáe

I’ve been on a Janelle Monae kick lately. With the right marketing, she could be like Lady Gaga. She’s definitely cuter, and more talented. Unfortunately, Bad Boy Records isn’t putting her out like they should. You’d think a Grammy nominated artist that’s cool with Outkast would be getting more exposure. She should be a mega star by now. Hopefully, she will be soon. Check out the vid. Buy her music too. Metropolis, Suite I of IV: The Chase is currently available. Metropolis, Suites II and III will most likely be released in 2010.  Unless Bad Boy drops the ball on her, which wouldn’t surprise me.
