The Smokers Club Tour | Week 1

This has to be the most hilarious tour ever outside of anything Redman and Method Man could ever sponsor. From hyped live shows to tour bus foolery, there isn’t a dull moment from what I see.Commentary on Dza’s shaven head is one thing. But Shipes riding around Wal-Mart shirtless reciting lyrics made for swangin’ and bangin’?

You can’t make this hilarity up.

Method Man – World Gone Sour

This song is pretty damn good to be honest. A dope song to advertise a product he probably supports anyway? This is all win. Let Method Man advertise candy all he wants: they are paying money. If you don’t like “commercial rap” then don’t listen cause it is selling a product. If you want to hear him come dope on a song, then watch and enjoy.

Where I’m From x Method Man (video)

Meth recalls a straining try-out for Cappadonna’s crew, around a time when the future Wu members used to battle each other… Going back to 8th grade, Meth talks friendship, dark secrets & comic books. I like how this was shot how open meth was, its always great to see superstars go home & reminisce. #statenIsland

Much Respect to Gasface for the quality series.

I got an email today posing a question.

screencap-2009-12-21-at-1.07.34-PM-550x237

Here is my response :

You really cant make a comparison, Meth and Drake are two very different emcee from two different era’s. This response might sound one sided because I’m from SHAOLIN and Method Man is a legend. Method Man’s flow might be one of the best in hop hop, the dude just walks on beats the breath control is immaculate. There are many track I can tell you to listen to. If I had to choose one it would be from Tical “Meth vs Chef”.

For most 2009 and in 20X, Drake will rule the mountain that is hip hop. I need to hear more from Drake to form my own opinion, based off the music and not what others say. I thought So Far Gone was Dope. My cuzo Kaz put me on to his earlier mix tape, I thought that was excellent. Again I have to hear more the hype machine behind Drake is well deserved the dude can write hits, its a no brainer to say his albums will show his growth as an artist in years to come.

The links you provided in the email are of each rapper freestyling on a radio station. By definition a freestyle was originally used to promote an album by spitting verses of the record, so yes freestyles can be written. But in my opinion off the top freestyles are the best the verbage difficult enforce. (side note I changed the Meth freestyle to one of my favorite freestyles ever by Method Man.)

I really want you to form your own opinion, who do you think is better. At the end of the day, you have to listen to what you enjoy.

Joe Budden gets punched by Raekwon crew member

Joe Budden can’t catch a break, but he sure knows how to catch a punch right to the eye. According to dodgerhightop.com and a slew of other hip hop sources, Budden was backstage with Mickey Factz, filming a video blog at last nights Rock The Bells show in Los Angeles, when Raekwon and his crew approached him. After hostile words were shared, one of Raekwon’s friends punched Budden in the eye. It all stems from the recent beef between Joe and  Method Man, and this specific video.

While Budden turned his camera off before the attack, Raekwon was accompanied by Ice Water TV, who recorded the whole thing. Perhaps footage of the actual punch will surface the internet at a later time. The following videos cover the aftermath of the altercation and Budden’s reaction, as well as a retelling of the incident by Mickey Factz.

No official word on the behalf of Raekwon just yet, but there will no doubt be more to this story coming soon. Earlier today, Joe seemed to be in good spirits and made light of the situation via Twitter.

At least he has a sense of humor.
