Damn. This song is probably one of the most heartfelt, real songs I done heard from Nas in a while. Not that his other stuff isn’t real. But damn, this is a good look because he is putting himself out there. People need to realize: his daughter is 17. He’s a man. He will always be afraid for his daughter’s safety and well being. Damn, man…..

Nas – The Don
Nas…is back? First, it was “Nasty”, now its “The Don”? Oh, and this song is banging. Not unexpected. Yet, it is refreshing to hear Nas over “bangers”. It is what he deserves. Period.

Jump Off TV – Drake’s Album and Classic Albums
I’m glad that they all understand that Drake makes soft boy music. No matter if you feel that it is, or is not, hip hop. It is still some soft music made for the masses. Now, what should be understood is that he is not for everybody. I personally enjoy his music no matter my opinion on it being a little out of my manly understanding (“Marvin’s Room” crafted to greateness. The subject matter? Leaves a lot to be desired for any man. Seriously. It is a hater song.). And yes, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is harder than Take Care. Keep it real.
Meanwhile, what really makes a classic album? Classic albums, to me, must be albums that people of both generations (experienced and inexperienced) listen to the album and truly understand that the music was so lush and exuberant that you will instantly understand WHY and HOW and know exactly what attracted them to the music. Yet, this is all based upon opinion. Also, like Jas stated, it is EXTREMELY important to know the artist’s catalog. It wouldn’t be fair to come in to listening to Jay-Z from Watch The Throne. You have to experience the artist’s catalogue to understand it fully.
That’s my take and I’m sticking to it.

Nas – Nasty
As promised Nasir dropped the latest video off his upcoming untitled album which is slated to drop sometime next year. I’m thoroughly impressed with this video which was directed by Jason Goldwatch as Nas takes it back to his old stomping grounds also known as the Queensbridge Projects. Enjoy!

Nas & Amy Winehouse – Just Friends (Urban Noize Remix)
The boys of Urban Noize hold a special place in my heart. I’ve been listening to their remixes for the past two years now and they’ve consistently done what it takes to make my ears happy. I read through twitter that this remix was in the works and I’m glad they finally decided to drop it! Since Amy’s passing we’ve been graced with a number of remixes but none that pair these two old friends together. Through Nas’ various interviews and tweets the world came to realize what good friends Mr. Jones and Amy were and I think it’s great that Urban Noize did a mashup of “Just Friends” off of Back To Black with the verses from “Hey Nas” off of 2002′s God’s Son. Both tracks were produced by the very talented Salaam Remi. Take a listen down below and let us know your thoughts!

Common feat. Nas – Ghetto Dreams (official video)
Yeah, this is a full fledged, ghetto-hood-intellect banger of a video. Video vixen (Bria Myles)? Check. Proper thematics? Check. Nas actually staying focused and on topic…and even admitting when he doesn’t? Double check. Now, my good friends…please enjoy this worthwhile video putting this jam into the realm of visual reality. The Dreamer, The Believer should be out this fall. I pray that it is a near-classic album.

Raekwon feat. Nas- Rich and Black
The refreshment of seeing old men still make great music. I know, I am wrong for saying it. But, it is true. People love trying to keep hip hop “young” instead of keeping it for “everybody”. Meanwhile, Raekwon is still making quality music for the masses. Off of his highly underrated Shaolin vs. Wu Tang album.

Common feat. Nas- Ghetto Dreams

Represent that good ole 1995-1996 era, homies!
Anybody that understands Rashied Lonnie Lynn’s music knows that he has to keep things urban every now and then. Makes no sense to not come with the understanding of the hood. With that said, it only makes sense to link up with Nas. I remember when Nas rocked the Congress summer of 1996 right after Common jumped on the stage to rip some tracks with him. Then, they shut the concert down. That was one of the most hood concerts ever. And maybe…just maybe…one of my most personal.
