A Weekend In Los Angeles (Rx x ScienZe) – RoofTops

A Weekend In LA - Rooftops

I didn’t know that Scienze moved to LA (or he is visiting…whatever). I see this “trip” isn’t going to waste. He is still overwhelmingly positive. He still does his thing.

Robert Glasper feat Solange Knowles & The Roots – Twice (?uestlove’s Twice Baked Remix)

Oh, man. You know what? This is part time ridiculous. It makes no sense that Robert Glasper has put out the best R&B this year and he is a jazz musician. Stuff like this is putting other artists to shame. And that is all I have to say about it.

Kendrick Lamar – Swimming Pools (Drank) (Jimmy Fallon)

Jimmy Fallon always brings the dope live performances. Kendrick Lamar? This situation is no different. Watch him navigate as the Roots Crew do what they do best: bring the funk.

Big K.R.I.T. x Roots on Jimmy Fallon

K.R.I.T. works damn good with a live band backing up the country funk that he brings. I sense another classic coming from his first major full length album. I cannot wait until it drops. It needs to be everything we hoped for. That is all I have to say about that.

The Roots – Undun (short film)

The Roots – UNDUN from The Ghettonerd Company, LLC on Vimeo.

Like I said before, this is the perfect music for telling the story. Therefore, this is the short film that accompanies this album. It has been out for a while, but people have just caught wind of the full time movie. Please watch, and listen to the soundtrack, of a film dealing with a young man that made all the wrong choices.

Dead End Hip Hop x Darcwonn = 2 for 1 Roots Special

People are raving about this new album by The Roots. Personally, I think that it is a substantial album that separates them from the rest of the hip hop conglomerate. Here is part of what I have to say…

Exerpt:

Redford Stephens must have had an uneasy life. Well, at least that’s how the Roots make it seem. If you don’t know who Redford Stephens is then, don’t worry, the Roots will get you well acquainted with his story. Redford’s fictional, yet so real, story is the subject of Undun. One just hopes that people actually pays attention to the story of urban melee that is depicted within each song.

Roots Welcome Bachmann With ‘Lyin’ As* B*tch’ On Fallon

Exerpt from the article:

As US Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) made her way across the stage, The Roots, who back Fallon each night, played a coded message of a song for her introduction music. Astute ears — or Twitter followers of drummer Questlove — could identify the song: “Lyin’ As* B*tch” by Fishbone

You just can’t make this stuff up. Its at 22:30 of the video…

The Roots – Tip The Scale

undun is the story of this kid who becomes criminal, but he wasn’t born criminal. He’s not the nouveau exotic primitive bug-eyed gunrunner..he’s actually thoughtful and is neither victim nor hero. Just some kid who begins to order his world in a way that makes the most sense to him at a given moment…At the end of the day…isn’t that what we all do?’ -THE ROOTS

As promised we’re given the second video to The Roots weekly installment. On the album version the track will feature Dice Raw which is slated to be released on December 8th. Directed by Clifton Bell, the introduction to their latest video leaves a lot to be thought about. Just some kid who begins to order his world in a way that makes the most sense to him at a given moment…At the end of the day…isn’t that what we all do?’

The Roots – Make My (official video short)

And just like that, we have visuals to go along with the song. Undun is going to be one hell of a concept album. Since it is suppose to follow the life and death of a certain protagonist, this video is very fitting towards that idea. This album is becoming more and more of a must buy.

The Roots – Make My (feat. Big K.R.I.T.)

This is such a great look for K.R.I.T. who is featured on The Roots upcoming project undun that is slated for a December 6th release. There’s something about K.R.I.T.’s lyricism and his delivery. He has this certain relatability factor to him; it’s almost like he knows MY struggle, knows what I’ve been through. It’s a characteristic very hard to find in artists today. I think that’s why I’m such a fan.  OKP got the premiere on this track, shout outs to them!
