Diamond Dallas Page, Yoga Guru

As I was eating my Wheaties, the thought of hey whats Diamond Dallas Page doing lately. With spoonfuls of the breakfast of champions being chewed I googled DDP. Apparently the former pro wrestler has become a fitness guru.

While pro wrestling is not considered a sport, what pro wrestlers do is athletic and many aches and pains are REAL. What started out as Diamond Dallas Page’s reluctant use of yoga to help him recover from debilitating injuries has evolved into a hybrid yoga developed by Page, that “Ain’t Your Mama’s Yoga!!”. DDPYoga was created while Dallas was recovering from ruptures to his L4/L5 discs.

While watching his wife’s yoga routine the former 3 time WCW World Heavy Weight Champion realized, the benefits of yoga when he regained his flexibility and strength that were hindered by his ruptured disks. DDP developed a book which later turned into a series of workout videos entitled DDPYoga.

DDPYoga targets people who wouldn’t otherwise do yoga. DDPYoga is a combination of intense zero impact workout that combines yoga, rehabilitation moves, dynamic resistance, and breathing technique. DDP says “The workout jacks up your heart rate, helps you lose weight, gain flexibility, get your body back and own your life”

I think why DDPYoga is so successful is Dallas’ personality, he genuinely wants to see people succeed. Working out is a labor of love it takes determination and some sacrifice. Six-time WWE champion, Chris Jericho swears by DDPYoga. Here is a great 15 minute clip of DDP and Y2J doing some DDPYoga, eating gluten free waffles and telling Eddie Guerrero stories.

There are hundreds of testimonials via DDPYoga‘s twitter page here are two that caught my attention.

Top 10 Favorite Short Term Wrestling Tag Teams Part 2

Follow cuzo Drew on twitter:

Previously on the Gospel According To The Ice Jesus we went over #10-6 on my top ten “Short Lived Tag Teams Of All Time”. Now before I get into my top 5, I want to take the time out to do some shameless shilling.

Now for those who only know of my work here, I’m also ¼ of the rag tag crew known as the Anti-Semantic Show. It’s a pod cast that we put out each and every week, so GO CHECK IT OUT

Now let’s get down to brass tax, as we continue our fantastic little list.

#5 Vicious & Delicious (Scott Norton & Buff Bagwell) WCW 1996-1998 – I know what you’re thinking “two years in wrestling is a long, long time” fact remains that in spite of the fact they were together for so long, they teamed so infrequently due to Norton’s involvement in Japan that this counts. Also I’m sure you’re a little shocked to see Buff Bagwell make the cut. Yeah Buff’s a primadonna, yeah Buff for the most part dogged it, but he was just SOO good in his role here.

Buff was the guy you wanted to see get his ass handed to him, and the rough, tough rugged Scott “Flash” Norton was the monster to back him up. And their finisher, DAMN ! The Doomsday Style Blockbuster was just so innovative for it’s time. Seriously check it out, it freaking ruled. It’s a pity they were part of the N.W.O really as they were forced to play second fiddle to the Outsiders (Scott Hall & Kevin Nash).

Top 10 Favorite Short Term Wrestling Tag Teams

Gospel According to The Ice Jesus Aka Big Bidness Duh, Duh Dastardly:

The 80’s are long over, and so is the era of the tag team. Since the death of said era there have been “attempts” to make tag team wrestling seem important again, but often these are short lived. Sure TNA and ROH tend to have more long term tag teams, but who watches TNA? And Indy wrestling like ROH is freaking cool and all, but apart from diehards like me and Emilio Sparks most people don’t know what ROH is.

Not with standing today and next week we’ll be looking at my personal TOP 10 of SHORT LIVED TAG TEAMS.

#10 Vader & Mr. Hughes WCW ’92- Okay this was early 90’s when tag teams still meant something but still this was way to short lived. This team was as hard hitting as it gets and had a classic encounter with the Steiner Brothers at Clash of the Champions 18 in 92.

Seriously everyone should check out that match for the sheer brutality of it, Steiners looks like stars suplexing Vader and Hughes out of their freaking boots at points, and Vader and Hughes look like the monsters that they are (or were) giving it right back to them. Honestly it made sense as to why this team was so short lived, as Vader would go onto win the WCW Championship by the end of the year, but how flipping cool would it have been to see these two standing on top of the tag team mountain?

10 years ago today WWE bought WCW

Who else had one TV tuned to RAW & another TV on Nitro ? I know ppl that use to tape both. WCW had it moments, I watched from 1996-98. (Joe So Delicious tells me to watch earlier stuff I refuse) when WWF stepped its game up(Attitude Era), you had to watch both shows.

However, from 1999 on when Vince Russo took over, WCW got so bad it became unwatchable. Without getting into specific reason as to why WCW collapsed, Chris Jericho said it best “In the WWF you got Bret vs Stone Cold, and in WCW you got Piper vs Hogan”.

Chris Jericho is the Man of 1004 Holds

I have been reading Chris Jericho’s book, I’m up to his days in WCW. Jericho talk about a lot of things mostly how ass backwards WCW was run. In on particular chapter Jericho talks about a segment he did on Nitro where he reads off from a list all the wrestling moves he knows. (this was building a feud with Dean Malenko who was nicked named “the man of a 1000 holds”)

I am a fan of jokes or references that reoccur in a bit, if its done right its a successful tool in comedy. Count how many times Jericho uses Arm Bar. I giggled no lie

I really wasn’t a die hard Jericho fan until I started reading his book. I always thought his abilities as a performer where amazing. From reading his book I now remember how good his WCW work was. WCW dropped the ball & never utilized his talents.

Hey Scunge take a sec to peep the touching, heartfelt, poignant retirement speech of a great worker, nice guy, original Horsemen and my favorite bump and feeder of all time; “The Enforcer”, “Double A”, Arn Anderson.

nWo Paid Announcement – “nWo 4-Life”

The NWO shook WWF, when WCW started going with this storyline it was so fresh. It was something never done before, I always dug these promos here is one of the early NWO promos. These promos still hold up IMO.
