Ultimate Warrior vs Macho Man WrestleMania VII
Why is this match in its entirety impossible to find on youtube? Fuck it highlights are gonna have to do. The match was amazing…From start to finish. Warrior did two things I thought were impressive he walked to the ring and actually wrestled.
The success of the match was due to Macho. Savage wasn’t Hulk Hogan (a mark for himself) Macho realized what worked for business. That was Warrior Kicking out of 5 Elbows added to the epicness of this match.
I cry as an adult during the Savage Liz reunion. What can I say I’m a romantic.

Ric Flair Vs Undertaker WrestleMania X-8
As we continue on with WrestleMania week, lets look at one of the slept on matches on the card. This Mania had Hogan vs Rock so all the attention was on that, but I believe this was the first match where people were like”wait Undertaker never lost? Ok, lets build that.”
Plus this was Flair’s first “OK THAT IS RIC FUCKEN FLAIR” match since like 97 and second mania match ever. The first being 10 years prior vs Randy Savage.

Stone Cold vs The Rock Wrestlemania X-7
As we continue WrestleMania week, here is a match from WrestleMania X-Seven, arguably known as the best WrestleMania ever. This event was the second time that the WrestleMania main event featured The Rock and Steve Austin for the WWF Championship, WrestleMania X-7 is often noted as the end of The Attitude Era.
For me it would be the last Mania/WWF related program I would watch for 3 years. Seeing the show end with McMahon and Austin shaking hands and sharing beers, was over kill for me. I know its all part of the plan but it was a let down. I thought Austin going heel was great but it didnt last he’s an enigma, plus I had no interest in the whole invasion angle.
But WrestleMania X- Seven was a great send off for me. Once Vince McMahon then came to ringside to you knew there was some sort of shenanigans taking place. Like when The Rock tried to pin Austin after the People’s Elbow, McMahon pulled The Rock away.
Rock chased McMahon around the ring. After a stunner and a kick out by Rocky, McMahon handed Austin a steel chair you knew it was an Austin turned heel and the end of something special, wrestling at this time was larger than life. It didn’t get bigger than Rock Vs Austin.

When Steve Austin Broke In To Brian Pillman’s Home.
The Austin 316 speech, pioneered the attitude era the McMahon feud, the Bret Hart feud, breaking into Brian Pillmans house, all made Austin the man.
One of my favorite angles was when Austin attacked Brian Pillman when Pillman was home with an injury. In fact Pillman house angle cemented my Austin fandom. This was suspenseful I was glued to RAW the whole night.
Everyone watching thought a few things. Pillman is going to shoot Austin on live TV, Pillman dropped the “f bomb” on live TV and Pillman’s wife has great boobs.
I believe this whole angle was more Pillman, than Austin and wished Pillam didn’t pass shortly after. Had Pillman been alive I think he and Austin would have had an amazing program maybe a Hollywood Blonds reunion.

Happy Austin 3:16 Day
Today is March 16th, this means nothing but since the date is 3/16, lets create our own hallmark holiday Austin 3:16 Day. Its only fitting that I post the speech where Austin 3:16 started when Stone Cold won the King of the Ring in 1996.

Terry Funk Beats the Snot Out of Mel Phillips
I remember seeing this attack on an old Coliseum Video I rented from Palmer Video. If your not hip to Coliseum Video throwbacks Mel Phillips was a old WWF ring attendant but his claim to fame is being beaten up in the clip above. WWE creative further involved Mel Philips in the angle with Funk. Mel Philips comes out to ringside during a Funk match wearing Funk’s hat FUNK GOES BESERK chasinhg Mel around the ring, but The Junkyard Dog comes out and brawls with Funk.

Top 10 Favorite Short Term Wrestling Tag Teams Part 2
Follow cuzo Drew on twitter:
Previously on the Gospel According To The Ice Jesus we went over #10-6 on my top ten “Short Lived Tag Teams Of All Time”. Now before I get into my top 5, I want to take the time out to do some shameless shilling.
Now for those who only know of my work here, I’m also ¼ of the rag tag crew known as the Anti-Semantic Show. It’s a pod cast that we put out each and every week, so GO CHECK IT OUT
Now let’s get down to brass tax, as we continue our fantastic little list.
#5 Vicious & Delicious (Scott Norton & Buff Bagwell) WCW 1996-1998 – I know what you’re thinking “two years in wrestling is a long, long time” fact remains that in spite of the fact they were together for so long, they teamed so infrequently due to Norton’s involvement in Japan that this counts. Also I’m sure you’re a little shocked to see Buff Bagwell make the cut. Yeah Buff’s a primadonna, yeah Buff for the most part dogged it, but he was just SOO good in his role here.
Buff was the guy you wanted to see get his ass handed to him, and the rough, tough rugged Scott “Flash” Norton was the monster to back him up. And their finisher, DAMN ! The Doomsday Style Blockbuster was just so innovative for it’s time. Seriously check it out, it freaking ruled. It’s a pity they were part of the N.W.O really as they were forced to play second fiddle to the Outsiders (Scott Hall & Kevin Nash).

Gospel According to The Ice Jesus Aka Big Bidness Duh, Duh Dastardly:
The 80’s are long over, and so is the era of the tag team. Since the death of said era there have been “attempts” to make tag team wrestling seem important again, but often these are short lived. Sure TNA and ROH tend to have more long term tag teams, but who watches TNA? And Indy wrestling like ROH is freaking cool and all, but apart from diehards like me and Emilio Sparks most people don’t know what ROH is.
Not with standing today and next week we’ll be looking at my personal TOP 10 of SHORT LIVED TAG TEAMS.
#10 Vader & Mr. Hughes WCW ’92- Okay this was early 90’s when tag teams still meant something but still this was way to short lived. This team was as hard hitting as it gets and had a classic encounter with the Steiner Brothers at Clash of the Champions 18 in 92.
Seriously everyone should check out that match for the sheer brutality of it, Steiners looks like stars suplexing Vader and Hughes out of their freaking boots at points, and Vader and Hughes look like the monsters that they are (or were) giving it right back to them. Honestly it made sense as to why this team was so short lived, as Vader would go onto win the WCW Championship by the end of the year, but how flipping cool would it have been to see these two standing on top of the tag team mountain?
