Yelawolf – Trunk Muzik Returns (review)

Yelawolf - Trunk Muzik Returns

Well, whatever you feel…I don’t care. Just peep the review.

Excerpt:

Yelawolf was on the verge of lyricist superstardom. He had already built such a following around his Trunk Muzik series. People were prematurely crowning him another great after Eminem. Then, out of pure irony, Eminem signs him to Shady/Aftermath. We all knew that Yelawolf was going to explode into stardom. Catfish Billy was going to become a household name representing the seedier side of Caucasian life.

Then the unexpected happen: his premier Shady/Aftermath album, Radioactive, virtually flopped. Too much filler and not enough killer. Now, it seems he has taken it personally. So, after much touring, side projects, and reflecting, we have Trunk Muzik Returns. From the gate, I must say that Yelawolf is back if he ever left at all.

Yelawolf – F.A.S.T Ride (video)

I think I need a late pass on this video. Yeah, it has been out for a while now. The problem is that I didn’t pay attention to it…or whatever. Personally, I think it really missed me. That is until I downloaded the new mixtape by Yelawolf (Trunk Muzik Returns). Now? This is my favorite song on the album. Click it and see why.

Travis Barker & Yelawolf – Funky Shit (video)

I really, REALLY like this right here. I am hoping Yelawolf gets back to this type of rap instead of that commercial bullshit that means very little to the fans that love him and his career.

Emilio Sparks Interviews Yelawolf… Again

Interview Filmed/Edited courtesy of Puma for New Swag City

About a year ago during Movember I was heavily bearded and chopped it up with Yelawolf for a second time. For a solid year I thought the footage was dead and gone but technology is a marvel, thanks to Director Puma I now get to share this with you.

We talked about a whole bunch of shit but had to edited it because the the interview is old. what Yelawolf does discuss the possibility of doing an entire album with Big K.R.I.T, his lifestyles brand Slumerican, cars and why he has an SEC championship ring. Be warned you might get hyponitized by my beard it was wonderful.

Dead End Hip Hop – Yelawolf Radioactive (review)

Oh, I am feeling the Yelawolf album, commercial songs be damned. But, I understand why Beezy felt the way he felt. The album does take a commercial turn. However, I still see the vision.

I am seeing a pattern in hip hop: the mixtape vs. the commercial album. Too many situations are occurring when your mixtape sound is different/better than the sound of the album. This leads to high/unrealistic expectations. It happened to Wiz Khalifa. It happened to Wale. And now it seemed to have happened to Yelawolf. This is still a dope album, though.

Radioactive by Yelawolf (review)

Wait, don’t I have this album review earlier than usual? Most media outlets?

Oh.

Excerpt:

Catfish Billy has finally arrived with his full length album! Gadsden, Alabama’s finest is on his way to generating some type of Soundscan figures and whatever else impresses labels and label whores these days. However, that is all irrelevant to his status. Many are going to wonder if he can fulfill his Aftermath obligations. Giving this album a listen, I can easily see that why Eminem signed him.

Struggle ft. Yelawolf – Outlaw Shit

Struggle dedicates his latest video in the memory of his grandpa which also features Yelawolf and is directed by Tyler Clinton. Honestly, I urge you guys to give this a listen, I know how hard it is to open up to new artists but I really like this track as Struggle seems to find a way to touch and relate to many of us stuck in the everyday struggle of life. This song contains a sample of “Outlaw Sh*t”, written and performed by Waylon Jennings (his grandfather), Shooter Jennings and the 357′s.

Yelawolf – No Hands

Shame on me for seeing the title of this video and immediately thinking of Waka Flocka. I shake my head at my damn self. Shady Records representer Yelawolf drops off new visuals of his latest single off his forthcoming album Radioactive. What  I thought was cool about this video was that it was inspired by video game Driver San Francisco. And it’s always great to see Yela doing this thing, been a fan of his for a while now; proud to see how far he’s come.

Yelawolf ft. Lil Jon – Hard White (Up In The Club)

Yelawolf just released Hard White (Up In The Club), the new single from his upcoming album, Radioactive. The song was produced by Tha Hydrox, and features the unmistakable voice of the Southern hype man, Lil Jon. The Alabama native, Yelawolf boasts “You’ll never see Rock n Roll do Hip-Hop like I did”. Quite a claim. Will his new album be a success for Shady Records? With all of the hype Yelawolf has been receiving in the past year, it seems very likely. Radioactive drops on September 27.
